A call is made for a renewal of basic values & rights that will stop the process of "de-democratization" in Europe. Evidence of this process is found in the powerlessness of the European Parliament, the decline of social human rights, & the situation of the poor. Discussed is how changes in asylum laws have negated the rights of asylum seekers, while those who defend their rights are discriminated against, eg, journalists trying to protect their sources or citizens trying to retain their private information from institutions like Europol. Further evidence is found in the lack of voting rights for migrants & other government "divide & conquer" policies. A new common alliance that will defend basic & freedom rights as the basis of a democratic society is proposed, & an investigation of the stability of the foundation of human rights in the European Union, a catalogue of basic rights, & a human rights clause in treaties are advocated.
